iPad 3 Hands-on; LTE support might NOT be on the agenda after all

After getting their hands on many of the parts being used on the yet to be released iPad 3, MIC Gadget put them all together and compiled this video depicting a “hands on” with what the iPad 3 will likely look like. Though truthfully, with the iPad 3 set to look almost exactly the same as the iPad 2, albeit a little thicker, there’s nothing really jaw dropping about the video but it’s still worth checking out.

Here, MIC Gadget put together the iPad 3 front glass, rear shell, and casing which results in this little video set to some interesting 80s/video game music.

MIC Gadget does, however, add this interesting bit of information regarding rumors of LTE support. Put simply, don’t get your hopes up.

Readers will also be pleased to know that the price has not increased either. We at M.I.C. feel that this is because the rumored LTE will not be integrated. As indicated in our previous in depth article to Apple’s mobile strategy, we said there was a very limited market for LTE at this time. Also, the LTE chipset adds an extra cost to each unit, which the normal Qualcomm 3G chipset does not incur. We also feel that it will most likely be added to the next model, as opposed to this one. Our sources concur with us on this as well.

With no LTE to speak of, the key selling points of the iPad 3 are likely to be the Retina Display, better cameras on the front and back, Siri integration, and faster internals.
