My ipod wont connect with my computer?

Apple Computer Tech ethan w asked:

I have an 80GB ipod and i connected it to my computer and it worked just fine then about 20 minutes later i plunged it in and now as soon as it says its connecting it ejects it. The computer charges the ipod so i know its not the cord or the USB port. I have also tried restarting the ipod and the computer but that doesnt help, i have also tried calling Apple tech support but they dont know how to fix it. Can anyone tell me how to get this damn thing to work right?

well if u had your ipod for a long time the chord that connect to your ipod and computer could have been damaged or just got tired and went to sleep.

dude, SAME EXACT THING happened to my ipod. the thing is, it is the USB chord. my ipod could still charge with my USB chord, but then i asked if i could barrow my friend’s. he gave me his, and it worked fine, it connected to the computer and i could connect it without a doubt in my mind.

TRUST ME!!! ITS THE USB CHORD!!! IT DOESNT MATTER IF IT CAN CHARGE!!! ITS THE USB CHORD!!

DONT LISTEN TO OTHER PEOPLE!! DONT RE-INSTALL ITUNES, ITS JUST GUNNA GET WORSE!!! DONT TAKE ANY ACTION WHICH IS RECCOMENDED BY APPLE!! JUST BUY A NEW CHORD!! ITS ONLY LIKE 10 DOLLARS, SO IF THAT FAILS ITS NOT THAT BIG OF A LOSS! BUT IT WONT! IT WONT FAIL! JUST BUY IT!

2 thingsmake sure your itnes install is OK be reinstalling it. then start itunes without ipod connected.

then REST the ipod (hold down menu and centre button till screen goes black with apple on it, wait till it lights up then plug it into the computer .

it should appear on itunes then form itunes ipod tab select restore and it should go back to being a fun machine!
