New iPhone 14 Exclusive Reveals Stunning Apple Design Decision


Apple iPhone 14 leaks have already revealed some surprising design changes, but arguably the most exciting of them all just took a big step forward.

In an exclusive report, historically accurate site The Elec has revealed that Apple has now agreed a supply chain deal with LG to provide OLED punch hole displays for the iPhone 14 range. The deal signals the biggest visual change to the iPhone line-up since the iPhone X rebooted Apple’s smartphones in 2017 and hopefully shoots down previous pill-shaped punch-hole leaks. Moreover, every new iPhone 14 model could be getting the upgrade. 

Breaking things down, The Elec explains that LG will be providing Apple with “low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED panels” for the first time, with Apple keen to reduce its reliance on Samsung. The Elec also explains that the panels all support 120Hz high refresh rates. 

A telling line from the report sees The Elec describe the hardware as “LTPO TFT OLED panels with hole-in display technology, where there is a hole at the top side of the panel for the front camera.” This aligns with an earlier leak from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who previously claimed Apple had found a way to embed the other sensors used in Touch ID under the display. Kuo also said Apple is looking to extend the tech to all iPhone 14 models “if product yields allow”. 

Perhaps most interesting, however, is the leaks also add further credibility to popular leaker Jon Prosser’s early iPhone 14 renders which highlighted this design change. Prosser also tipped Apple to increase battery sizes on all models and move the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max to titanium chassis. Titanium is one of the strongest metals on earth.
