News Highlights: Some Mac users are warned that the Amazon Music app and HP drivers are malware [u]
Some users report that they can no longer print to HP printers or that they cannot continue to play Amazon Music through the dedicated app, due to a macOS error claiming that the software is malware. Update: HP is reportedly working with Apple to resolve the issue.
AppleInsider has been approached by users who report that their Macs suddenly claim that their HP printers contain malware and “will damage your computer”. Separately, other users are reporting the same problem but with the Amazon Music app.
In any case, a dialog will be displayed if you try to launch the app or use just the Mac. It reports that there is malware, says it will damage Mac, and advises users to move a particular file to the trash.
That file could be the Amazon Music app, or it could be the HP print driver named “HP Device Monitoring.framework”. Users have the option to click Move to Trash or Cancel, but if they cancel, the error continues to occur.
Computer Question: I haven’t updated my drivers or OS or anything … but suddenly my (old HP Laserjet) printer stopped working yesterday.
When I check the logs it says the old driver has stopped working. HP doesn’t have a new driver …
Any ideas ??
