Apple has updated its home page with a provocative graphic that reads:
Tomorrow is another day.
That you’ll never forget.
Check back here tomorrow for an exciting announcement from iTunes.
Sounds like a Bond flick, no?
So what could it be? The only logical conclusion is that Apple will announce iOS 4.2 tomorrow, which jibes with it being an announcement “from iTunes.”
No matter how you slice it, it’s odd placement for an Apple announcement. Typically, media and event invitations are mailed to chosen members of the media, while press releases are posted on Apple’s PR website.
Tomorrow’s announcement appears to be a little more than “Oh, and here’s iOS 4.2.” Fingers crossed that Apple finally gives us iTunes in the cloud tomorrow and/or an iTunes streaming/subscription service.
Update: Some of the other theories being mentioned around the ZDNet water cooler:
- TV rental model additions to iTunes.
- The game plan for that North Carolina data center will be revealed.
- iTunes bundling deals with TV makers.
- Something global in scale. Note the time zones highlighted.
The deal resulted from talks that were taking place as recently as last week among executives of Apple, representatives of the Beatles and their record label, EMI Group Ltd.
If true, color me underwhelmed. Everyone who wants The Beatles on their iPod already has it. Don’t they?
